Summary

Miss Daphne Beekman is a mystery writer by day, inquiry agent by night。 Known for her ability to puzzle out plots, she happily works behind the scenes for the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency, staying well away from danger。 However, when Mr。 Herman Henderson arrives on the doorstep of the agency, desperate for someone to investigate numerous attempts on his life, Daphne soon finds herself in the thick of a case she's determined to solve。

Mr。 Herman Henderson is also a mystery writer, but unlike the dashing heroes he pens, he prefers living a quiet life, determined to avoid the fate of his adventurous parents, who perished while searching for the Lost City of Gold。

As the list of suspects grows and sinister plots are directed at Daphne, the situation quickly deteriorates, and a revealed secret jeopardizes their newfound affection。 Only time will tell if Daphne will be able to regain Herman's trust and save both their lives。

After reading several rather intense books, To Write a Wrong was the perfect break。 As usual, Jen Turano provided a great mystery with plenty of comic relief。 I as pleased to once again experience her wonderful sense of humor and quirky characters set in the Gilded Age。 Turano's writing is not all light hearted though; she does address serious topics, in this case sexual abuse, taking advantage of the vulnerable, and having the courage to stand up for oneself。 I am very grateful to have received After reading several rather intense books, To Write a Wrong was the perfect break。 As usual, Jen Turano provided a great mystery with plenty of comic relief。 I as pleased to once again experience her wonderful sense of humor and quirky characters set in the Gilded Age。 Turano's writing is not all light hearted though; she does address serious topics, in this case sexual abuse, taking advantage of the vulnerable, and having the courage to stand up for oneself。 I am very grateful to have received a complement copy of To Write a Wrong from Bethany House via NetGalley without obligation, and cannot wait for the next installment in the Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency series。 All opinions expressed here are my own。 。。。more

What a fun read! It has to be my new favorite。Goodness, this book had me pulling a late night until I finished it。 I also don’t recommend drinking hot liquid while reading。 Not the most pleasant to choke on while laughing。 Her books should contain a warning “warning may cause laughter and make you sit at the edge of your seat”。 So set your coffee down and strap yourself in for a lovely story when you read this。 I would recommend getting yourself a copy of this book as soon as possible。 You know What a fun read! Don’t even put this in the pile。 Read it right away。 Just saving you from saying “why didn’t I read this earlier ?”。 I have a feeling I’ll be reading this one again。 。。。more

Jen Turano once again delivers a lively cast of unique characters in her latest release, To Write A Wrong。 Daphne and Herman will keep readers on their toes! Oh my gosh, I've been looking forward to Daphne's story since the moment I closed the book on book one!As always, the author's story had me in stitches。 Her characters always get into the kookiest situations。 She knows how to write a scene that comes to life in the most hysterical way! This is a book that's longer than anything I ever read in a day, but I loved it so much I "HAD" to finish it。When I was reading the story, I kept thinking that this book is like a comedic version of the game Clue。 Oh my gosh, I've been looking forward to Daphne's story since the moment I closed the book on book one!As always, the author's story had me in stitches。 Her characters always get into the kookiest situations。 She knows how to write a scene that comes to life in the most hysterical way! This is a book that's longer than anything I ever read in a day, but I loved it so much I "HAD" to finish it。When I was reading the story, I kept thinking that this book is like a comedic version of the game Clue。 As much as Daphne wants to do a good job as an inquiry agent, she's SO bad at it, you can't help but cringe when she's "on the job"。 And then there's poor Herman who needs to be protected from someone who's trying to murder him, yet his new agent is Daphne。 hahaha I kept thinking I knew who was going to be the bad guy, but Daphne was no help considering the fact that she suspected everyone with her unique way of seeing the world。 A way in which Herman comes to truly appreciate it。 I mean, I think everyone who reads the story will! One of the parts of the story that I love is the outfits Daphne wears。 They basically become a character of their own throughout the story。 Reminiscent of Gertrude in Out of the Ordinary。I was pleasantly surprised that we were able to get to know Ann, from book one, more in this story。 It was fun to see her sensible side next to Daphne's wacky side。 I also enjoyed Eunice in this story as I did in the first book。 She has quite the presence, especially when she pulls out her pistol! hahahaha I can't wait for her story!I was actually surprised at the serious turn the story took towards the end of the book, but I appreciated it so much。 A VERY strong message to young girls, women, and their families。 I won't give it away, but it's a societal issue that is incredibly important! I honestly loved the direction it took and how the author handled it。*I received this book for review。 This is my personal opinion。 。。。more

To Write a Wrong by Jen Turano is the 2nd tale in The Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency series。 I suggest reading To Steal a Heart before beginning To Write a Wrong (you will not regret it)。 Miss Daphne Beekman is an author as well as an agent with the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency。 Daphne is an unusual woman for her time period。 She is spirited, creative, clever, clumsy, and loyal with a tendency to swoon。 Daphne carries a large handbag that holds a multitude of items that tend to come in handy in To Write a Wrong by Jen Turano is the 2nd tale in The Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency series。 I suggest reading To Steal a Heart before beginning To Write a Wrong (you will not regret it)。 Miss Daphne Beekman is an author as well as an agent with the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency。 Daphne is an unusual woman for her time period。 She is spirited, creative, clever, clumsy, and loyal with a tendency to swoon。 Daphne carries a large handbag that holds a multitude of items that tend to come in handy including a pistol。 Mr。 Herman Henderson comes to the agency late on a Friday night to engage their services。 Herman is a published author who is actually Daphne’s competitor。 Herman has had four attempts on his life, and he wishes to hire the agency to find out who is behind the attempts。 This is the beginning of a humorous, boisterous adventure。 I always look forward to Jen Turano’s book because I can count of them to make me laugh。 To Write a Wrong did not disappoint。 I did find it a little bit of a slow starter。 The first scene between Herman and Daphne seemed to go on too long (it felt a little off)。 I love that Daphne can hold her own。 She might swoon on occasion (she is working on it), but Daphne is not a woman to back down。 There is a scene with Daphne at her publishers in Boston that shows off her strengths。 I could envision the scene and the faces of the men in the room which had me chuckling (the thought of that scene still makes me laugh)。 To Write a Wrong is a busy book。 I liked all the activity and quirky characters。 Romance abounds with the ladies as they meet some new gentlemen。 Some things never change。 Issues women faced then are some of the same problems women face now。 The author brought 1887 New York and Boston to life with her vivid writing。 To Write a Wrong is a multifaceted, historical novel that is a delight to read。 To Write a Wrong is droll historical tale with matchmaking grandmama’s, a pilfering parrot, a concerned cousin, protective relatives, writing woes, and a not so secret non de plume。 。。。more

My first impression of this story, what a wacky book!! Those dresses she wears while undercover, such a hoot!Couldn't stand Mildred, Herman's grandmother, for most of the book。 Thankfully she comes around。 Also COULD。 NOT。 STAND Thomas Sibley。 He wins the award for LEAST liked character in this story, and that includes the mysterious culprit that is trying to harm Herman。 Thomas did not get the justice that was due him but it was satisfying that he was beaten really well in front of Daphne's brothers。 And much good came of the revelation surrounding that man, I truly wish the duel had been allowed to happen。 I thought the romance in the story was too subtle, it was very well written and the first kiss was worth a laugh but in this book the mystery is more important。 The dialogue, as usual, was very well done。 How these people can be so wordy and not loose their tempers is so good。 Truly hated one scene where Daphne secret is revealed against her wishes, I had never wanted to throw something at a fictional character as badly before as I did during that chapter。 Charles Bonner needed a good punch。A Turano book is always a delight to read and always a good way to spend for me, never get tired of her stories and the characters that bring every chapter to life!I received a copy from the publisher。 I was not required to write a positive review, the thoughts and comments are my own。 。。。more

Poison would be far more interesting。”With plenty of action, suspense, a dash of romance, and lots of crazy antics, this book is a great addition to my keeper shelf。 I’m looking forward to reading Eunice’s story in the next book of the series。 4。5 starsI voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy from the Bethany House Publishing。 All opinions are my own。 。。。more

Daphne Beekman is Montague Moreland。 Because women were not looked upon favorably as writers in 1887。 So by day Daphne is a member of the Beeker Street Inquiry Agency。 But by night, she pens mystery books that are best sellers, writing under a pseudonym。Herman Henderson is well known for writing mysteries set in exotic locations。 And is also Daphne's biggest competitor。 He comes to the agency as a client, and so begins an adventure where two writers forge ahead with lots danger and romance。 This Daphne Beekman is Montague Moreland。 Because women were not looked upon favorably as writers in 1887。 So by day Daphne is a member of the Beeker Street Inquiry Agency。 But by night, she pens mystery books that are best sellers, writing under a pseudonym。Herman Henderson is well known for writing mysteries set in exotic locations。 And is also Daphne's biggest competitor。 He comes to the agency as a client, and so begins an adventure where two writers forge ahead with lots danger and romance。 This was a fun book。 Turano is known for her witty dialogue。 To Write a Wrong is a good clean book, a delightful historical romance。 While it is second in a series, it can certainly be read as a stand alone book。 I received a complimentary ebook copy from the publisher, through NetGalley。 Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own。 。。。more

Best。 Book。 EVER! Every time I read a book by Jen Turano, I am convinced she can't top it, and EVERY time she proves me wrong。 I adored this story。 Herman and Daphne are fantastically likable characters and the supporting characters helped round out the story nicely。 Jen's trademark humor is perfect in the story, her humor is always my favorite element of a Jen Turano story and this one was no exception。 All in all, another perfect(for me) read by one of my most beloved authors。 Don't miss it! To Write a Wrong was everything I hoped for Daphne's story。 Daphne is a writer in an age where women can't write under their names and that creates the need for her to use a pseudonym。 She's also an inquiry agent with the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency。 Put the two together and give her a client who is her biggest competition in the mystery world, and you have the recipe for a book that was so fun to read。 It pokes fun at writers, but never devolves to a treatise on how terrible publishing is。 I To Write a Wrong was everything I hoped for Daphne's story。 Daphne is a writer in an age where women can't write under their names and that creates the need for her to use a pseudonym。 She's also an inquiry agent with the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency。 Put the two together and give her a client who is her biggest competition in the mystery world, and you have the recipe for a book that was so fun to read。 It pokes fun at writers, but never devolves to a treatise on how terrible publishing is。 Instead it creates a plot that twists and turns while having a good time and weaving a tale of a sweet romance。 Loved it! 。。。more

Jen Turano's books are always witty and fun, full of adventure and unique characters。 They always make me laugh。 Since meeting Daphne in the first book of this series, I have been eagerly awaiting her story, To Write a Wrong。 I was certainly not disappointed。 Daphne has come to an impasse with writing her latest mystery novel, which have to be published under the name Montague Moreland because horrors, who in 1887 would buy a novel written by a woman。 Daphne is at the office of the inquiry agenc Jen Turano's books are always witty and fun, full of adventure and unique characters。 They always make me laugh。 Since meeting Daphne in the first book of this series, I have been eagerly awaiting her story, To Write a Wrong。 I was certainly not disappointed。 Daphne has come to an impasse with writing her latest mystery novel, which have to be published under the name Montague Moreland because horrors, who in 1887 would buy a novel written by a woman。 Daphne is at the office of the inquiry agency one night when Herman Henderson seeks help with a problem。 Their meeting is quite momentous。 This is the beginning of their adventures as they, assisted by Pinkerton agent Cooper Clifton and some of the ladies of the Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency, discover who is trying to kill Herman。 I thoroughly enjoyed To Write a Wrong and am looking forward to the next book in the series where we will hopefully learn more about the mysterious Eunice Holbrooke。 。。。more

'Murderers, I'm sure you'll agree, are very proficient with lying。'Oh goodness, do I ever love a Jen Turano novel! Every time one is published, I can't wait to read it。 You know why? What a wonderful, rip-roaring time to be had here。 I always find myself, during the reading of on of Turano's books, rereading passages over and over just for the simple pleasure of laughing my head off。 I adore her work! This book made my week。 It's the perfect thing to read when you just want to relax。 It's historical fiction with a wicked sense of humour thrown in。 Jen Turano is awesome and I have loved anything she's ever written - including the contemporary book "Finding Margo"!Herman and Daphne were great characters - not perfect like real life but with their own set of problems。 One of the themes is that you are stronger than you think and it's a pleasure watching the heroine learn that for herself。This is This book made my week。 It's the perfect thing to read when you just want to relax。 It's historical fiction with a wicked sense of humour thrown in。 Jen Turano is awesome and I have loved anything she's ever written - including the contemporary book "Finding Margo"!Herman and Daphne were great characters - not perfect like real life but with their own set of problems。 One of the themes is that you are stronger than you think and it's a pleasure watching the heroine learn that for herself。This is a book in a series, and while it's great to read to the series - it could be a standalone。 I'm hugely impatient for the next book already - Yes I loved it that much。 I got this in exchange for a free review。 I would definitely buy it - In fact, I've put my money where my mouth is and brought it for my library。 。。。more

o Write a Wrong by Jen Turano is a funny novel。 There were numerous moments where the characters were placed in a funny moment。 There is a scene with an axe that made me giggle。 Turano creates vivid, vibrant characters who jump off the page。 None of her characters fit the typical norm for woman of this era, which I love。 The characters are smart, funny, and charming。 I love the heroine, Daphne, this time around。 She was smart and a writer。 I love how she works at the Bleeker Street Inquiry Agenc o Write a Wrong by Jen Turano is a funny novel。 There were numerous moments where the characters were placed in a funny moment。 There is a scene with an axe that made me giggle。 Turano creates vivid, vibrant characters who jump off the page。 None of her characters fit the typical norm for woman of this era, which I love。 The characters are smart, funny, and charming。 I love the heroine, Daphne, this time around。 She was smart and a writer。 I love how she works at the Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency and writes mystery novels at the same time。 Herman is a loving and sweet hero who finds the odd ball Daphne appealing and is drawn to her。 Their romance story was sweet and kind。 Overall, To Write a Wrong by Jen Turano is a delightful story that allows my imagination to flourish, and I really love the mystery element this time around。 Highly recommend for readers of Turano’s other novels and historical romantic comedies。I received a complimentary copy of To Write a Wrong by Jen Turano from Bethany House Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own。 。。。more

This book was delightful, full of Turano's trademark humor。 Daphne cracked me up, both her actual personality and whatever peculiar persona she adopts under cover。 Some of her peculiarities make a lot more sense as we learn her history, and it was fun to meet her family (whom she clearly loves dearly, but is also frequently exasperated with)。 In spite of being a man who avoids adventure, Herman manages to be quite dashing anyway, especially as his affection for Daphne grows。 There are some matur This book was delightful, full of Turano's trademark humor。 Daphne cracked me up, both her actual personality and whatever peculiar persona she adopts under cover。 Some of her peculiarities make a lot more sense as we learn her history, and it was fun to meet her family (whom she clearly loves dearly, but is also frequently exasperated with)。 In spite of being a man who avoids adventure, Herman manages to be quite dashing anyway, especially as his affection for Daphne grows。 There are some mature themes in the story--primarily related to assault--that were handled well: neither graphic nor victim-shaming, but also neither downplaying the wrong。 I wouldn't hesitate to let a teenager read it。 On the mystery aspect, I was highly amused by the author's treatment of "trite tropes," as Daphne called them。 I loved their discussion on the famed notion of love at first sight--that maybe it's not love at first sight, but the possibility of love from one glimpse。 I think that's a more accurate description; it's hard to truly fall in love with someone you don't know, but sometimes one can recognize that this is someone I could easily fall in love with after meeting only once。 I wasn't expecting such a thought-provoking line, but there you go!Thank you Bethany House and NetGalley for the complimentary e-book。 I was not required to write a positive review, and all opinions are my own。 。。。more
